I am looking at upgrading my Apple watch to the series 7 and this may well solve the issue. I believe that if the phone and watch are connected and the watch is unlocked on my wrist and phone in range it will use the watch being unlocked as its mechanism

If you have WiFI connection:1. Connect your iPhone to the Internet via a WiFi network.2. Insert a SIM card from a network carrier different from the one the iPhone is locked to and turn on the phone. If the card has a PIN, type it in.3. The iPhone will connect to the Apple server, check for the unlocking and automatically apply it to the phone in seconds.
If you don't have WiFI connection:1. Insert a SIM card from a network provider different from the one the iPhone is locked to and turn on the phone. If the card has a PIN, type it in.2. You will see that your iPhone has no service.3. Open iTunes on your computer and connect your iPhone via USB cable.4. iTunes will connect to the Apple server, check for the unlocking and automatically apply it to your iPhone in seconds.
All you need is a WiFi Internet connection and the SIM card of a different network carrier. If you don't have WiFi, you can connect your PC to iTunes using a USB cable. iTunes will connect to the servers at Apple, applying the unlocking for your iPhone.
The unlocking method used by doctorSIM is recommended by Apple. It is legal, permanent, doesn't void the phone's warranty and isn't invalidated by future software updates. Additionally, your iPhone is never out of your sight because you unlock it yourself and if you need any help you can contact our customer support for assistance.
In order to unlock your iPhone, it is very important that you select the original operator your iPhone is locked to (the network carrier that sold you the iPhone). Unfortunately, we cannot cancel or issue refunds for unlocking requests if the network carrier indicated is incorrect. If you don't know, verify this information with our iPhone original carrier check before submitting your unlocking request.
You can still unlock your iPhone even if you have signed a fixed-term contract with your current network carrier. You will have to pay your monthly bills until the contract expires, but at the same time, you'll be able to use your iPhone with other networks. If you stop paying your monthly bills, the carrier will almost certainly blacklist the iPhone and you won't be able to use it in the country where it was purchased.
You should also have your digital house in order, so to speak. Some carriers tie a lot of your data to their in-house services, and unlocking it may inadvertently delete items from your phone. This is why you should use AnyTrans.
AnyTrans backs up absolutely everything from your iPhone onto your Mac. All you have to do is plug it into your computer before unlocking it, and back your entire iOS system up to your Mac. This helps ensure you never lose any pics, files, folders, messages, or any other precious info that may go missing after unlocking your device.
Apple last year added a way to check if your iPhone is locked or unlocked that doesn't involve calling your carrier and navigating to a human that can answer this simple question. As long as you are running iOS 14 or iOS 15, you can go to Settings > General > About and scroll down to Carrier Lock. If you see No SIM restrictions on this line, then -- good news! -- your iPhone is unlocked. If you see SIM locked, however, then you probably still have some payments to make before your iPhone is fully paid.
If your iPhone is paid up and still not unlocked, then you'll need to contact your carrier to request an unlock. Before you call, though, you may be able to initiate the unlocking process from your carrier's site. Check out the device unlock pages from AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon -- you may need to wait a day or two for your request to be completed. Once confirmed, you're good to go.
The unlocking process varies by device and by carrier. A carrier may automatically unlock a device after certain conditions are met, send instructions to customers on how to unlock a device upon request, or complete the unlocking process in-store.
Contact your wireless service provider to find out when and how your phone may be unlocked. Many devices can be unlocked with unlock codes or other software updates. Participating providers will unlock postpaid mobile wireless devices for customers or former customers in good standing after fulfillment of the applicable service contract or device installment plan, or payment of an early termination fee. For devices purchased for prepaid wireless service, participating providers will unlock devices within one year of initial activation, consistent with the provider's reasonable time, payment, or usage requirements.
I have Touch ID setup on my iPhone 6S but I'd like my family to be able to use the Authenticator app on my phone aswell. The unlock screen says 'Enter your passcode or use Touch ID to unlock' - but there's no way to enter a passcode. What am I missing?
I updated my iPhone 11 and I've already paid the phone. The person at the xfinity store told me that my phone would be unlocked in 24 hours after paying, but my phone is still locked, I went to the store and the gave me a number then I called and they put me on hold for more than 100 minutes. I call costumer services and they were very rude, telling me if I want to unlock my phone I shall wait for more than 2 hours and that if I don't want to wait I won't be able to unlock it. 2 HOURS WAITING
!!! GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!! Well I called again, spend more than 2 hours on hold and still nothing Is there any way to unlock my phone that doesn't include being abused like this????Actually is my phone, I paid for it.
I always have great luck with the chat feature to unlock my phones. Log into your XfinityMobile account and go to the Xfinity Assistant. Just put in unlock phone and the robot will give you options. Then put in agent and there should be an option to connect to a live chat agent. A few weeks ago, it took about 10 minutes on chat and my iPhone was unlocked.
When I tried and used "unlock phone" or "unlock iPhone" as the key word, the robot did not give me any option to do that. Is there a phone number that I could reach the live agent to unlock the iPhone I bought from them? Thanks.
I too am interested in this as I am about to updgrade my phone but am curious about the process. Can you unlock your phone now while it is still active, or is that done after it is inactivated? And once it is unlocked, does the person who buys it from you need to do anything? Do they need a code or anything, or does it stay unlocked?
You should unlock your iPhone while it is still active. Once the iPhone is unlocked it will stay unlocked and you do not have to do anything if it is sold. It will state under Settings, General, About and under Carrier Lock "No SIM restrictions" when it is unlocked.
It doesn't look like the unlock is on the chat menu anymore but if you type in "Agent" and then "Devices", you should get to a live chat agent quickly who will be able to help you with an unlock request.

Thanks. I just used agent as the keyword to chat with an agent. After simple verification, it then got transferred to another agent to do the unlock. Another agent verified my name, address, phone number and last 4 digitgs of the card paying the bill. Then the agent said it is successfully unlcoked although it might take up to 24 hours for Apple to process it. Now the carrier lock has No SIM Restrictions. Could I now swap out the current Xfinity mobile physical SIM with another carrier's physical SIM to test it?
